Computer Class Update: Week 20

Well Tuesday was another snow day, so unfortunately I wasn't able to see my second, fourth and fifth graders this week.  We will continue next week with what we had planned to do this week.

As for the first and third graders, here is what we are doing this week...

First Grade:
Screen out the Mean from Common Sense Media
This week we started learning that it is very important to treat others respectfully online, and also what to do if someone is treating us in a non-God pleasing way.  Cyberbullying, or bullying of any kind, is never okay.

Third Grade:
Private and Personal Information from Common Sense Media
This week we continued to discuss the importance of keeping our private information private.  They also learned that it is okay to share certain types of information.  There are many reasons to not share private information online, with the top two being safety and avoiding identify theft.
Here are some examples of the two types of informantion:
Private
Full Name
Address
Social Security Number
Mother's Maiden Name
Credit Card Information
Phone Number
School
Passwords

Personal, but Okay to Share
Favorites (food, color, vacation spot, animal, etc.)
Your opinion (though it should be done respectfully)
First Name
Username
Pictures of things you like
