Computer Class Update: Week 9

First Grade
Project #3: Creation Story Books
First Grade will continue a project in which we will be using Microsoft Word and Tux Paint program on the computer to create Creation story books. Last week we finished up Day 1 and our covers and created our Day 2 and Day 3.  This week we will finish up Day 2 and 3 and begin our work on Days 4 and 5.  The children are creating some very beautiful pictures.

Second Grade
Project #3: Passwords and Online Privacy - Part 3
Second Grade continued our unit on Online Privacy: Why passwords are important and what information should be kept private and not shared online. This week we will continue making our posters on Publisher to tell what information should be kept private and what information is OK to share. Please ask you students to fill you in on what they have learned so far.

Third through Fifth Grade
Project #2: Cyber Bullying - Part 4
This week the 3rd through 5th graders will finish creating our animoto video projects to represent our learning about cyber bullying, what it is and what to do if it is happening to you or one of your friends.
Their videos will answer the following questions:

1. What is cyberbullying and what technologies do people use to bully?
2. What are the four types of cyberbullying? Describe each.
3. What should you do if you or a friend is being cyberbullied?

So far the students are doing a great job on their videos! We should be able to wrap up the video creation this week so we can watch them next week and after the Thanksgiving break. I can't wait until sharing day! The students have worked very hard on these projects.  I look forward to sharing the links with you all as well.  Once completed, I will post the links on the blog for a limited time so the students can show you their work.  Check out the sample video here: Cyberbully PSA
