Computer Class Update: Week 5

Project #3: Passwords and Online Privacy - Part 1

Grades 1 and 2  (No computer class this week for first graders - No school on Thursday)We will finish our lesson on Cyberbullying.  The students did a great job on their acrostic poems and will be getting those back the next time I see them.  I was really proud of the effort they put in to making their Letter posters.

Second Grade will take a post-unit quiz on cyberbullying and we will begin our unit on Online Privacy: Why passwords are important and what information should be kept private and not shared online.  We will be working on the Media Awareness site doing one of the following Privacy Playground activities:  Privacy Pirates  or  The first adventure of the three cyberpigs.

Project #2: Cyber Bullying - Part 2 (cont.)
This week the 3rd through 5th graders will continue our projects learning about cyber bullying, what it is and what to do if it is happening to you or one of your friends.
Grade 3, 4 and 5 (No computer class for third grade this week - No school on Thursday)
Our older students will continue creating a PSA announcement about cyberbullying.  Last week we continued our research and began collecting pictures for our PSAs.  We talked about what pictures are appropriate and how to find pictures that are copyright-friendly for school use.  Their videos will answer the following questions:
  1. What is cyberbullying and what technologies do people use to bully?
  1. What are the four types of cyberbullying?  Describe each.
  1. What should you do if you or a friend is being cyberbullied?
This week, the students will be using the websites on the Cyberbullying PSA tab to look for pictures to go with their animoto videos.  Once they have an acceptable amount of pictures we will begin our projects.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Have a great week!
