Computer Class Update: Week 4

Project #2: Cyber Bullying - Part 2 (cont.)
This week we will continue our projects learning about cyber bullying, what it is and what to do if it is happening to you or one of your friends.

Grades 1 and 2
We will continue our lesson on Cyberbullying.
First Grade will continue to create acrostic posters with the word Cyberbully using Microsoft Word. The students will find and insert clip art pictures that describe what a cyberbully is and what to do if you are cyberbullied. 1st grade students will only do 1 letter.
Second Grade will also continue to create acrostic posters with the word Cyberbully using Microsoft Word. 2nd grade students will do 3 letter.
Students will be graded on the following criteria:
  1. Did they do the assigned letter?
  2. Did their description relate to cyberbullying?
  3. Did they use a clip art that was appropriate to the project?

Grade 3, 4 and 5
Our older students will continue creating a PSA announcement about cyberbullying.  Last week we watched a sample video, then the students began working with a small group to answer the guiding questions and decide what they want included in their PSA.
The questions were:

  1. What is cyberbullying and what technologies do people use to bully?
  2. What are the four types of cyberbullying?  Describe each.
  3. What should you do if you or a friend is being cyberbullied?
This week, the students will be using the websites on the Cyberbullying PSA tab to do more research for their PSA announcements and also they will be looking for pictures to go with their animoto videos.  We will be discussing copyright and how a picture is not "free" to use just because it is on the internet.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Have a great week!
