I hope all of you had a good week. This week was another busy week I know that April showers bring May flowers, but I think we have had enough rain for a year..
Now for your update: here is what we have been up to and what we are going to be doing the week of April 22...

Online practice: http://www.scootpad.com/
When students finish their assignments, I continue to have them work on scootpad.com to practice their reading and math skills. This is a great website, you are welcome to work on it at home.
Second Grade
Project #8: Google Earth
The second graders continued working on their Google Earth Moon Journal on Google Docs. We listened to Dress for Space on the computer. Then, the students were able to play a Dress Me for Space Game,

Fourth Grade

The fourth graders continued working on researching their state(s) and inputting their information into the following website:

http://www.statesymbolsusa.org/
Here are the items that the students were researching: State tree, bird, song, flower, animal, and nickname. Next week students will continue researching their states and adding the information to the Google Site stated above. have your student show you what they have added to the above site.
Fifth Grade
Project #7: Our United States
The fifth graders reviewed how excel Spreadsheets work and a few of the formulas. Excel is a spreadsheet program that can be used to organize and data/information. Next week, students will work on an Excel Error Spreadsheet and learn more functions.
Typing: Second-Fifth
We are also working on our typing skills. I am stressing to the students the importance of using the correct fingers while typing. This has been a bit of a challenge for some of the students. Also, with our projects, students have not had a lot of time to practice their typing. If they have a chance, they may practice at home.
Please check out the Typing Practice tab for online resources your can use to practice their typing at home as well.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Happy Earth Day!
Have a great weekend!
