Computer Class Update: Week 31

Can you believe there is one week of computer class left?  I can't believe it!  It has gone by so fast for me.

Now for your update:  Here is what we have been up to and what we are going to be doing the week of June 3...

First Grade
Project #11:  Presentation of the Seasons
The first graders continued working on their PowerPoint presentation of the Seasons.  The students added three words or phases that reminded them of that season.  Then, they added clip art about the season.  Next week, we will finish their presentations and present them to their classmates.

Online Practice:  http://www.scootpad.com/
When students finish their assignments, I continue to have them work on scootpad.com to practice their reading and math skills.

Second Grade
Project #9:  Pet Survey
The second graders entered students names and the number of pets into the spreadsheet in Google Docs.  They learned how to use the sum button in Google Docs for the total number of animals per student.  Next week, students will learn to sort data in their spreadsheet.  Also, I may do a quick lesson on staying safe online and Tumblebooks through the Portage District Library
http://www.pdl.lib.mi.us/parents  Then, click on the top word Tumblebooks and you can get in and read or listen to stories.

Third Grade
Project #7:  Fractured Fairy Tales
The third graders worked on typing their Fractured Fairy Tales in Google Docs.  Here is the video of the Fractured Fairy Tale that students watched and listened to :

Next week, students will finish their fairy tales and will share with one classmate their story for editing.  If students finish, we will print their stories and create a fairy tale book.

Fourth Grade
Project #6:  Taking Care of God's World - Pollution:  Cause and Effect
The fourth graders continued researching cause and effect of various types of pollution and write a research document explaining their findings.  The websites below are the sites that we are using to find our research:

Next week, students will finish their reports and print them.

Fifth Grade
Project #:7:  Our United States
The fifth graders worked on a Sorting and Formula Review Exercise.  Students were supposed to sort the columns from Ascending to Descending.  Some students were having a difficult time answering questions.  Next week, I will print off the spreadsheet and have students work on the worksheet individually.  We won't be finishing this project, but I will give students credit for what they have done.

Typing:  Second-Fifth
We are also working on our typing skills.  I am stressing to the students the importance of using the correct fingers while typing.  This has been a bit of a challenge for several students.  If they have a chance, they may practice at home.
Please check out the Typing Practice Tab online resources that you can use to practice their typing at home as well.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Have a wonderful weekend!
